Dental telehealth services must adhere to the same standards of appropriate patient care required in other dental health care settings, including patient examination, x-rays, and review of medical and dental history.

All dental telehealth providers must identify themselves to patients and provide their New York state license number.

Dental telehealth providers are prohibited from waiving liability in advance for telehealth services or preventing patients from filing complaints with governmental agencies.

No person may provide any telehealth service requiring a license, registration, certification, or authorization under New York education law without possessing the required credential.

The act takes effect immediately.
