Town of Hempstead authorized to discontinue and transfer parkland (Lot 18 in Block 192, Levittown Section 30, consisting of 1.318 acres) to Levittown School District for expanding parking and access facilities at Jonas E. Salk Middle School.

Levittown School District must convey replacement parkland (0.829 acres on Nassau County Tax Map Section 51 Block 492) to the town of Hempstead prior to the transfer, which the town has never previously used for public open space or park purposes.

If the fair market value of replacement land is less than the land being transferred, the town must dedicate the difference in value toward acquiring additional parklands or funding capital improvements to existing park and recreational facilities.

Town of Hempstead must comply with all federal requirements and obtain approval from the Secretary of the Interior if the original parkland received federal funding for purchase, maintenance, or improvement.

Act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
