Establishes a pilot program requiring the Department of Corrections to equip at least 50 correction officers per shift with body-worn cameras at a maximum security facility after consulting with the state commission of corrections.

Mandates that personal video recording devices capture both audio and video of all interactions between correction officers and inmates under their supervision.

Requires the department to catalog and maintain all video recordings for at least six months and prohibits using body cameras for general surveillance of inmates, officers, or department employees.

Directs the commissioner to issue a report within six months after the pilot program concludes evaluating the impact of body-worn cameras on assaultive behaviors, serious injuries, deaths, and physical safety of inmates and personnel.

Takes effect six months after becoming law, with all equipment installation required within six months of the effective date.
