Adds definition of "treatment" to Criminal Procedure Law to include alcohol or substance use recovery programs, detoxification, medically assisted treatment, residential and outpatient treatment, and peer-based recovery support.

Requires courts to inquire on the record whether defendants object to religious elements of court-ordered alcohol or substance use treatment programs before assignment.

Mandates courts identify alternative equivalent nonreligious treatment programs for defendants who object to religious components of proposed programs.

Clarifies that courts cannot require defendants to use any specified type or brand of medically prescribed drug treatments for opioid use disorder.

Takes effect 60 days after becoming law.
