Allows Joshua Quinn, a deputy sheriff employed by Broome County, to elect coverage under the 20-year retirement plan in Section 552 of the Retirement and Social Security Law instead of his current 25-year plan under Section 89-m.

Quinn was employed as a corrections officer on February 2, 2015, and promoted to deputy sheriff on March 3, 2015, but failed to timely apply for the 20-year plan due to no fault of his own.

Broome County may elect to allow Quinn to participate by filing a resolution with the state comptroller within one year of the act's effective date, and Quinn must file his election request within 18 months.

All past service costs associated with the change shall be borne by Broome County, with an estimated one-time cost of approximately $44,500 that may be amortized over five years at approximately $9,940 annually with interest.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
