Senate commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the Village of Norwood, New York, to be celebrated July 3-4, 2022, with events concluding in a fireworks display.

Village was officially established in 1872 as Potsdam Junction, renamed Baldwin, and finally Norwood after an April 5, 1875 vote, founded by James Symonds, Benjamin G. Baldwin, and Charles McCarty.

Norwood established fire protection in 1876, opened a Post Office on July 1, 1903, and was selected as one of approximately 20 U.S. communities for experimental home mail delivery in 1913.

Village founded its first library on May 10, 1912, and developed numerous civic organizations and businesses including the Norwood-Norfolk Central School, American Legion Auxiliary, Kiwanis Club, and Chamber of Commerce.

Resolution recognizes Norwood's 150-year commitment to maintaining its motto "A Nice Place to Live" and its continued dedication to enhancing quality of life for its citizens.
