Commends Marilynn A. and Gerald John Wright, Sr. posthumously as recipients of the Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the New York State Senate.

Marilynn A. Wright (born September 26, 1920) enrolled in the Women's Army Corps on March 1, 1943, and served five months and 30 days of active duty as the only woman assigned to a U.S. Navy Seabees unit for bridge repair work.

Gerald John Wright, Sr. (born March 8, 1918) enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 21, 1939, served as Private First-Class in Battery D, 5th Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater from August 1942 to June 1945, and received the Bronze Star and other commendations.

The couple married on April 4, 1942, raised five children, and were active members of American Legion Post No. 184 in Hudson, New York.

Marilynn A. Wright died on December 8, 2016, at age 96 and was buried next to her husband at Tyler Cemetery in Kirkville, New York.
