Establishes a blue alert system within the division to aid in identifying, locating, and apprehending individuals suspected of killing or seriously wounding law enforcement officers

Blue alerts may be issued upon request of a law enforcement agency with jurisdiction when public dissemination of information may help prevent further harm or accelerate suspect apprehension, and can be disseminated regionally or statewide

Covers alerts related to serious injury or death of an officer in the line of duty, missing officers connected to official duties, or imminent and credible threats to officer safety

Division shall coordinate with the department of transportation, state police, local police agencies, television and radio broadcasters, and other authorized entities to disseminate alert information including suspect descriptions, vehicle details, and license plate numbers

Division authorized to develop criteria and procedures for blue alert system activation and to promulgate rules and regulations for implementation; act takes effect 90 days after becoming law
