Amends Labor Law Section 511, Subdivision 9 to redefine "day student" for employment purposes.

Removes the phrase "all or any part of the school year or" and replaces "as a part-time worker of" with "by" to clarify the definition.

Removes the requirement that work be performed "during the day time" to simplify the conditions for day student employment exemption.

Narrows the exemption to apply only to service "solely performed" during regular vacation periods by students in elementary or secondary school.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
