Requires the commissioner of health, in consultation with the commissioner of education, to develop a training program unit on working with patients of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities or expressions for certification of home health aides, personal care aides, personal care staff, and certified nurse's aides.

Training curriculum must include definitions of LGBTQ+ terms, reasons patients may hide their identities, person-directed care approaches, unique needs of older adults, patient rights and protections, and best practices for creating welcoming care environments.

Training must cover practical guidance on respectfully asking questions about sexual orientation and gender identity, responding to related concerns, and providing affirming care to diverse patients.

Training unit must be developed within six months of the effective date and required for all certifications and re-certifications issued on and after that six-month date.

Act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
