Director of aging, in coordination with the state board of pharmacy and department of health, shall prepare and publish a guide for seniors over age 62 explaining drug purposes, functions, and common drug interactions.

Guide must include information on the effects of combining medications with alcohol consumption and prominently display a caution in at least fourteen-point type advising against starting, stopping, or altering medications without consulting a healthcare practitioner.

Guide shall be made available on the director's website and distributed at no charge through designated aging agencies and in the six most common non-English languages spoken by limited English proficiency individuals in New York according to U.S. Census data.

Requests for more than ten copies are subject to a reasonable charge covering reproduction and handling costs.

Guide shall be updated as needed to maintain accuracy and relevancy, effective September 1 following enactment.
