Expands the definition of "motor vehicle" in insurance law to include fire vehicles and police vehicles for purposes of supplementary uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.

Requires insurers to provide supplementary uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance coverage to police officers and employees injured by uninsured or underinsured vehicles while acting within the scope of their duties, with coverage limits no less than the bodily injury liability limits of the policy.

Adds police agencies to the list of entities (previously limited to fire departments, fire companies, and ambulance services) that must receive supplementary uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage under their liability insurance policies.

Clarifies that the definition of "motor vehicle" in Vehicle and Traffic Law section 388 excludes fire and police vehicles from general application, but includes them specifically for purposes of supplementary uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance requirements in Insurance Law section 3420.

Takes effect immediately and applies to all policies and contracts issued, renewed, modified, altered, or amended on or after the effective date.
