Department of Corrections must submit a written report to the legislature at least 365 days before closing any correctional facility or institution.

The report must include justification for the proposed closure, and the legislature may request any additional information or data it deems necessary.

If the legislature or appropriate committees determine the proposed closure is not justified, the closure cannot occur without approval by a majority vote of both houses of the legislature.

The act takes effect 30 days after becoming law, with authority to adopt necessary rules and regulations before the effective date.
