Requires health insurers that provide medical, major medical, or similar comprehensive coverage and prescription drug coverage to cover prenatal vitamins when prescribed by a licensed health care practitioner

Applies to policies issued by insurance companies under sections 3216 and 3221 of the insurance law, and to contracts issued by medical expense indemnity corporations, hospital service corporations, and health services corporations under section 4303

Allows insurers to apply annual deductibles and coinsurance to prenatal vitamin coverage consistent with other benefits in the same policy, as determined appropriate by the superintendent of insurance

Takes effect on January 1 of the year following enactment and applies to policies issued, reissued, renewed, modified, or amended on or after that date
