Requires hospitals licensed by the Office of Mental Health, hospitals under Article 28 of the Public Health Law, and correctional facilities to employ a staff member specifically trained in filing assisted outpatient treatment petitions.

Commissioner of Mental Hygiene shall coordinate with the Commissioners of Health and Corrections and Community Supervision to establish and enforce this requirement.

Individuals being released from mental health hospitals, general hospitals, or correctional facilities with a documented history of mental illness or court-ordered mental illness evaluation must be counseled on and registered with available services before release.

Takes effect thirty days after enactment.
