Officer must review state agency rules and regulations, proposing amendments to promote climate sustainability and mitigate climate change impacts.

Officer coordinates energy and environmental sustainability policy across state government, including facility and vehicle fleet efficiency improvements and adoption of energy-efficient technologies.

Officer advises state agencies on environmental compliance, regulatory best practices, and sustainability innovation; represents New York State at the U.S. Climate Alliance and other national and international climate organizations.

Officer serves as state coordinator for implementation of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and assists the Climate Action Council; takes effect January 1st following enactment.
