Authorizes hospitals to establish standing orders for patient care that allow attending nurses to provide services without individual patient-specific physician orders.

Permits standing orders for electrocardiograms for acute cardiac syndrome, glucose screenings for hypoglycemia, sepsis lab panels and IV access, pregnancy tests before imaging/procedures/anesthesia, COVID-19 vaccines, and age-related cancer screenings.

Allows standing orders to be implemented either when directed by an attending practitioner or when an attending nurse determines in professional judgment that implementation is clinically appropriate, subject to hospital policies and regulations.

Requires standing orders to be reviewed and approved by hospital medical staff and nursing/pharmacy leadership, signed by an affiliated physician, based on evidence-based guidelines, and periodically reviewed for safety and usefulness.

Amends education law to authorize physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses to prescribe, order, and execute standing orders for hospital patient care consistent with the public health law provisions.
