Commissioner shall establish curriculum or instruction on Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander history and civic impact for school districts, with age-appropriate content tailored to successive grade levels.

Curriculum must include instruction on the history of diaspora in New York and the Northeast, movements and policies affecting these communities, and their contributions to government, arts, humanities, science, and economic and cultural development.

Curriculum shall address structures and historical events that limited or harmed Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and other marginalized communities, particularly regarding the civil rights movement.

Curriculum shall include instruction on solidarity between Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander communities and other historically marginalized communities in the civil rights movement.

Schools may incorporate these materials into history or social studies curriculum or implement them in any manner the school deems appropriate, effective July 1 following enactment.
