Adds new section 804-e to education law requiring the commissioner to establish curriculum or instruction on the historical treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals.

Permits curriculum content to vary by school district based on particular needs and does not require uniformity statewide.

Requires content to be age-appropriate and developed according to the needs and abilities of students at successive grade levels.

Allows schools to include these materials as a component of social studies curriculum or in any other manner the school deems appropriate.

Takes effect July 1, 2024 for school years commencing on or after that date; authorizes adoption of necessary rules and regulations effective immediately.
