Allows certified medication aides in residential health care facilities to perform specific medication-related tasks under supervision of a registered professional nurse, including administration of routine pre-filled medications.

Permits certified medication aides to administer insulin injections, low molecular weight heparin, and pre-filled auto-injections of naloxone and epinephrine, while prohibiting other injections, sterile procedures, and central line maintenance.

Requires certified medication aides to hold a valid New York state nurse aide certificate, high school diploma or GED, one year of experience in residential health care facilities, and complete specialized training and competency examinations.

Establishes that supervising registered professional nurses must assess competency of each certified medication aide, assign medication-related tasks, document all administrations, and retain discretion to revoke assignments without retaliation.

Takes effect 180 days after becoming law and amends state health facility regulations to recognize medication aide programs alongside existing nurse aide programs.
