Amends Civil Service Law Section 50 to require the state civil service department or appropriate municipal commission to review and update civil service examination questions no less than every five years, beginning in 2025.

Allows the department to conduct updates as deemed appropriate and does not prohibit reviewing or updating examinations prior to the scheduled five-year cycle if circumstances warrant.

Maintains existing requirements that examinations be practical in character and test the relative capacity and fitness of candidates for their target positions.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
