Establishes a rebuttable presumption that heart disease disabilities or deaths in deputy sheriffs working in cities with populations of one million or more (New York City) were incurred in performance of duty, if the employee passed a physical examination upon entry showing no evidence of the condition.

Provides that deputy sheriffs retiring under this presumption receive a pension equal to three-fourths of their final average salary, rather than the standard ordinary disability benefit of one-third of salary.

Applies to paid employees drawn from competitive civil service lists in the sheriff's department, except for purposes of workers' compensation law and labor law.

Fiscal impact estimated at $55,000 per disability incident and $167,000 per death incident in 2025, increasing annually if incidents occur yearly, with costs allocated to New York City.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
