Allows members of the New York State and Local Police and Fire Retirement System (NYSLPFRS) to claim up to three years of service credit for prior paid police officer service with an accredited police agency outside New York State.

Members must pay the retirement system a sum equal to the number of years claimed multiplied by their current tier's applicable contribution rate based on the 12 months of credited service immediately preceding their application.

Members must have at least five years of credited service (not including the prior out-of-state service being claimed) to be eligible for this credit.

Applications must be submitted prior to the member's retirement effective date.

The bill takes effect 120 days after becoming law; estimated past service costs will average approximately 30% of an affected member's most recent 12 months of compensation per year of additional service credited, with member contributions reducing the state's cost burden.
