Repeals current subdivision 2 of section 7206-b of the education law and renumbers existing subdivisions accordingly.

Allows applicants who file within two years of the effective date to substitute twelve years of practical geological work experience for the degree and experience requirements normally required for professional geologist licensure.

Permits each full year of geology study to count as up to two years toward the twelve-year practical experience requirement, at the board's discretion.

Changes the title of the trainee credential from "intern geologist" to "geologist in training" and removes the previous option allowing completion of practical experience requirements as an alternative qualification route.

Takes effect 180 days after becoming law and applies to all professional geologist licensure applications submitted on or after that date.
