Licensed pharmacists may order and administer FDA-approved infectious disease tests to detect infectious diseases or antibodies in patients suspected of having or having recovered from an infectious disease.

Pharmacists must complete appropriate training developed by the department and comply with federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 certificate of waiver requirements.

Licensed pharmacists are designated as qualified healthcare professionals to direct limited service laboratories for testing patients suspected of infectious diseases or antibodies, provided the test is FDA-approved and waived for use in limited service laboratories.

The act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
