Authorizes the office of court administration to pay Justice Joseph J. Maltese salary for the period January 1, 2021 to November 7, 2021, after he was denied certification to continue serving due to anticipated budget cuts that never materialized.

Any outside earnings Justice Maltese received during this period shall be deducted from the judicial compensation so total wages do not exceed what he would have earned as a New York state justice.

Authorizes the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System to reinstate Justice Maltese for pension credit accrued from January 1, 2021 through the present, and authorizes the comptroller to waive interest on pension benefits he must repay for receiving them during the unemployment period.

The office of court administration must pay approximately $51,900 as a one-time past service cost to the retirement system, with an estimated $48,000 in additional employer contributions for increased pensionable earnings.

The act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
