Requires school districts and local educational agencies serving grades 7-12 to adopt policies on student suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention by August 1, 2023.

Mandates policies address suicide risk factors including mental health conditions, abuse, trauma, bullying, family stress, and exposure to suicide, with specific attention to high-risk groups including LGBTQ youth, students with disabilities, and homeless youth.

Requires policies to include staff training on recognizing suicide warning signs, referral procedures, crisis response protocols, parent notification procedures, and community partnerships for mental health services.

Directs the Department of Education to develop and post model policies and guidelines on its website within 30 days of completion to assist local educational agencies.

Provides liability protection for schools and employees implementing policies under this article, and specifies that school employees must act only within the scope of their credentials or licenses.
