Senate commends Stanley Maltzman for receiving the Liberty Medal, the highest individual honor bestowed by the New York State Senate, to be celebrated at the Greene County Honor-a-Vet Veteran-of-the-Year Ceremony on November 2, 2024

Maltzman served in the U.S. Coast Guard from March 26, 1942 to May 1, 1946, as Signalman First Class aboard the U.S.S. Centaurus, participating in six Pacific invasions including Los Negros, Guam, and Okinawa

Earned five military decorations for his service: Navy Combat Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal

In civilian life, Maltzman worked as a commercial artist and remained active in his community through the Boy Scouts of America, Greene County Council on the Arts, and organizing the Tuesday Night Sketchers group at Greenville Library in 1999

Resolution directs that a suitably engrossed copy be transmitted to Maltzman in recognition of his patriotism and service to his country, state, and community
