Arthur William Wilsey is posthumously awarded the Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the New York State Senate, to be celebrated at the Saratoga County Honor our Deceased Veterans Ceremony on October 15, 2024

Wilsey served in the United States Army from December 9, 1943, with Company F 291st Infantry Regiment, 75th Infantry Division, fighting in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge

Wilsey was discharged as Private First Class on April 17, 1946, and received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal for his service

After military service, Wilsey attended SUNY Cobleskill, worked as a farmer and egg distributor, worked for the Saratoga Bottling Plant, and served 17 years with the New York State Department of Transportation before retiring in 1982

Wilsey was born September 8, 1925, in Gloversville, New York, and died December 11, 2012, at age 87; he was an active member of the Odd Fellows and Free Masons
