Posthumously awards the New York State Senate Liberty Medal to Merrill S. Patrick, the highest honor bestowed by the Senate upon an individual.

Patrick served in the United States Army during World War II with Company G, 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, landing on Utah Beach on July 4, 1944, and was wounded in Normandy eight days later.

Earned military decorations including the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Bronze Campaign Star, and Combat Infantryman Badge.

Worked 35 years as a Beater Operator at United Board and Carton Corporation and 10 years at Schuylerville Central Schools, retiring in 1978, and was active in his community through the American Legion, Boy Scouts, and Little League.

Patrick died on November 4, 1990, at age 73, and will be honored during the monthly Honor Deceased Veterans Ceremony at the Saratoga County Municipal Center on November 19, 2024.
