Commends Tom Drumm for receiving a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the New York State Senate.

On April 23, 2024, Drumm rescued a woman from an SUV that had submerged in a retention pond on Route 31 in Clay, New York.

Drumm immediately entered the freezing pond, swam to the vehicle, and helped pry open the car door against water pressure while another bystander assisted in pulling the woman to shore.

After the woman was brought to safety, Drumm remained in the water to ensure no other passengers or pets were trapped in the sinking vehicle.

The Liberty Medal recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of New Yorkers.
