Extends optional disability coverage under General Municipal Law Section 207-c to county probation officers, allowing counties to provide such coverage at their discretion rather than limiting it to Nassau County only.

County probation officers who are injured or become ill in the performance of their duties receive full salary and wages from their employer until disability ceases, plus all medical treatment and hospital care costs.

Medical providers furnishing treatment to covered probation officers cannot collect reimbursement from the officers themselves.

Employers may terminate salary and benefits once health authorities or physicians certify that the officer has recovered and is able to perform regular duties.

Act takes effect immediately with provisions subject to expiration and reversion under existing law.
