Amends Agriculture and Markets Law to require all licensed pet dealers to install and maintain fire protection systems at premises where animals are housed, sold, or traded.

Fire protection systems must include approved devices for detecting fires, activating alarms, extinguishing or controlling fires, and managing smoke, installed and inspected according to applicable building and fire codes (NYC codes in five boroughs; state codes elsewhere).

Pet dealers must immediately notify code enforcement and restore fire protection systems to working order if any system becomes inoperative.

Requirements apply to existing and new buildings but exclude residential buildings; "pet dealer" and "animal" definitions reference existing law definitions in Agriculture and Markets Law sections 400 and 350.

Takes effect one year after enactment; existing buildings or new construction with approved plans as of the effective date have an additional year to comply.
