Department of Health must develop an informational pamphlet for patients considering laparoscopic power morcellation surgery by July 1, 2024

Pamphlet must cover surgery definition, risks and benefits, alternative procedures, cancer screening requirements, privacy protections, and the risk that the procedure may spread undetected cancer cells

Pamphlet must be written in plain language and available in English and the six most common non-English languages spoken by limited English proficiency individuals in New York based on census data

Department must consult with professional societies representing physicians, obstetricians, gynecologists, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and midwives when developing the pamphlet

Pamphlet shall be posted as a printable file on the Department's website and may be available as a printed deliverable; practitioners may provide it to patients prior to the procedure
