Prohibits employers from requesting, requiring, or coercing employees or job applicants to disclose usernames, passwords, or other authentication information for personal accounts on electronic communications devices.

Prohibits employers from requesting employees or applicants to access personal accounts in the employer's presence or from reproducing photographs, videos, or other information from personal accounts obtained through prohibited means.

Allows employers to require disclosure of access information for nonpersonal accounts providing access to the employer's internal computer or information systems.

Prohibits employers from discharging, disciplining, penalizing, or threatening employees who refuse to disclose personal account information, and prohibits refusing to hire applicants based on such refusal.

Exempts law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and departments of corrections and community supervision from these restrictions; includes exceptions for employer-provided accounts used for business purposes and compliance with court orders or federal regulatory requirements.
