Single-use plastic straws provided upon request cannot be individually wrapped in plastic, except those included in prepackaged beverages.

Local health departments enforce compliance through food inspections with civil penalties of $200 for the first violation, $300 for the second within 12 months, and $500 for the third and subsequent violations within 12 months; violations occurring within one year of the effective date receive warnings only.
