Establishes death benefits for Orange County correction officers (including sergeants, captains, assistant wardens, associate wardens, and wardens) who would have been eligible for service retirement at the time of death.

Allows beneficiaries to elect a lump-sum payment equal to the pension reserve that would have been established had the member retired on their date of death, or the value of the death benefit and reserve-for-increased-take-home-pay, whichever is greater.

Applies to deaths occurring on or after the bill's effective date in 2023.

Orange County bears all past service costs, which may be amortized over 10 years, with an estimated immediate past service cost of $240,000 and ongoing annual costs averaging approximately $34,000.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
