Amends the agriculture and markets law to expand the definition of aggravated cruelty to animals to include causing physical injury to a companion animal using a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.

Defines aggravated cruelty as conduct intended to cause extreme physical pain or carried out in an especially depraved or sadistic manner.

Adds a new provision making it illegal to cause physical injury to a companion animal with intent to kill or cause serious physical injury using a deadly weapon (as defined in Penal Law § 10.00(12)) or dangerous instrument (as defined in Penal Law § 10.00(13)).

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
