Expands the scope of work athletic trainers are authorized to perform regarding neurological injuries and conditions in New York education law.

Removes the previous restriction limiting athletic trainers to only initial evaluation and triage of emergent neurological conditions, allowing broader management authority.

Authorizes athletic trainers to manage, monitor, and treat concussions and peripheral nerve injuries during rehabilitation to return to athletic activity, following physician clearance and written agreement.

Maintains prohibition on athletic trainers independently managing acute, subacute, or chronic neurological pathologies and comorbidities or neurological disease processes.

Takes effect on the same date as the 2023 licensure requirement for athletic trainers under bills S. 942-A and A. 219-A.
