Creates a rebuttable presumption that heart disease-related disabilities or deaths of deputy sheriffs in cities with populations of one million or more were incurred in the performance of duty, if the employee passed a physical exam upon hire that showed no evidence of the condition.

Provides qualifying deputy sheriffs retiring due to such disabilities a pension equal to 75% of final average salary, rather than the standard ordinary disability benefit of approximately one-third of salary.

Applies only to paid deputy sheriffs drawn from competitive civil service lists in sheriff's departments, and does not affect workers' compensation or labor law provisions.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.

Estimated to cost New York City $55,000 to $167,000 annually per incident by fiscal year 2025, with cumulative costs potentially exceeding $1 million annually by 2035 if multiple incidents occur yearly.
