Low-income subsidy data transmitted from the Social Security Administration to local social services departments shall automatically serve as an application for the Medicare Savings Program, eliminating the need for a separate application submission.

Information verified by the Social Security Administration must be accepted without additional verification when the low-income subsidy data supports eligibility determination under the Medicare Savings Program.

The Commissioner of Health must report annually on the Medicare Savings Program status and the number of applications received by local social services districts.

The Commissioner of Health shall develop and maintain a simplified application form consistent with federal law and coordinate with the Office for the Aging to publicize program availability to Medicare beneficiaries.

The act takes effect immediately, with section two aligned to the effective date of section 4 of part AAA of chapter 56 of the laws of 2022.
