Requires the Commissioner of Criminal Justice Services and the Office of Victim Services to develop a standardized procedure for police officers, county sheriffs, and state police to notify family members and dependents about eligibility for victim awards and related services.

Amends the model law enforcement death notification policy to include provisions requiring officers to provide information to the deceased's next of kin regarding available programs and support services during in-person death notifications.

Mandates that in-person death notifications to next of kin occur within twenty-four hours of identifying the deceased, with documented exceptions when notifications cannot be made within that timeframe.

Applies updated notification procedures to both the Division of Criminal Justice Services and the Municipal Police Training Council's model death notification policies.

Takes effect thirty days after becoming law.
