Adds a new definition of "autism" to Section 1.03 of the Mental Hygiene Law, establishing comprehensive diagnostic criteria for autism spectrum conditions.

Defines autism as a pervasive developmental disorder that meets criteria for autistic disorder, Asperger's disorder, pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified, Rett's disorder, or childhood disintegrative disorder.

Autistic disorder requires at least six symptoms (two from social interaction, one from communication, one from restricted/repetitive patterns) with onset prior to age three in social interaction, language, or symbolic play.

Asperger's disorder requires qualitative social impairments and restricted repetitive patterns without clinically significant language or cognitive delays, and causes significant functional impairment.

Takes effect September 1, 2025.
