Adds election officers to the list of protected classes under Penal Law § 120.05 (assault in the second degree), making it a class D felony to intentionally cause physical injury to an election officer performing assigned duties.

Amends Penal Law § 195.05 to include election officers in the definition of public servants protected under obstructing governmental administration charges (class A misdemeanor).

Creates new subdivision 3-b in Penal Law § 240.30 to establish harassment of election officers as a distinct offense, prohibiting striking, shoving, kicking, or threatening physical contact with an election officer while performing official duties with intent to harass, annoy, threaten or alarm.

References election officers as defined in section 1-104 of the election law throughout the amended provisions.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment, with conditional provisions if related 2024 legislation has not yet taken effect.
