Amends New York Public Health Law to make dense breast tissue notifications from mammography providers automatically qualify as a determination of medical necessity for insurance coverage of breast ultrasounds

Builds on existing 2012 law requiring mammography providers to notify patients when their mammogram shows dense breast tissue, which can make cancer harder to detect

Dense breast tissue is defined as heterogeneously dense or extremely dense tissue according to American College of Radiology standards or equivalent nationally recognized guidelines

Removes potential insurance barriers by eliminating the need for separate medical necessity determinations when a patient receives a dense breast tissue notification

Takes effect immediately upon passage
