Requires the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, Office of Mental Health, and Office of Children and Family Services to jointly develop a mental illness training course for temporary housing providers

Training focuses on best practices for recognizing signs and symptoms of mental illness and providing appropriate referrals to individuals who may be suffering from mental illness

Applies to providers including family shelters, adult shelters, hotels, emergency apartments, domestic violence shelters, runaway and homeless youth shelters, and refugee safe houses

All employees and volunteers at temporary housing facilities must receive the training

Facilities must ensure at least one trained intake services employee or volunteer is on-site at all times when staffing is otherwise required by law or regulation
