Updates terminology in the law from "alcoholism and substance abuse" to "addiction services and supports" and from "addiction" to "substance use disorder"

Mandates that prescribers re-registering after July 1, 2026 complete additional training on techniques to reduce overdose risk and harms related to controlled substances

Requires training to include information about medications used for addiction treatment, including how to become a buprenorphine prescriber

Takes effect 120 days after becoming law, with the Department of Health authorized to begin developing implementing regulations immediately
