Expands the definition of aggravated harassment in the second degree under Penal Law section 240.30 to include harassment via text, private message, direct message, email, or other electronic communication

Currently the law covers telephone calls made with intent to harass or threaten with no legitimate communication purpose; the amendment extends this to modern digital communication methods

Replaces gendered language "he or she" with gender-neutral "such person" in the statute

Takes effect on the first of November following enactment, with immediate authorization for agencies to develop necessary rules and regulations for implementation
