Requires all health insurance policies that cover hospital, surgical, or medical care, laboratory tests, or diagnostic X-ray services to provide coverage for genetic testing for familial dysautonomia, Canavan's disease, and Tay-Sachs

Applies to individual policies, group policies, and coverage through hospital service corporations, health service corporations, and medical expense indemnity corporations

Mandates coverage at the inception of new policies, and for existing policies at the next anniversary date subject to evidence of insurability

Allows laboratory acknowledgment of test performance to serve as sufficient proof of testing, protecting patient confidentiality by not requiring disclosure of test results

Permits coverage to be subject to annual deductibles and co-insurance consistent with other benefits within the policy, as deemed appropriate by the superintendent
