Authorizes towns and villages to require by majority vote of the governing body that town or village justices be admitted to practice law in New York State

Currently, town and village justices in New York are not required to be attorneys

Any changes to eligibility requirements would take effect at the start of the next judicial term following the election after the local law is enacted

Amends the uniform justice court act by adding a new section 105-a
